Michelle

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time. My auntie was a Beautician, which inspired me when I was younger, but I had not had chance until now to pursue it as a career. This training at College is enabling me to finally get into the industry and I’d love to work as a freelance Artist or on a make-up counter.

I’m inspired by make-up Artists on YouTube such as Pixiwoo – two sisters who do everything from everyday looks to media – and Bailey Sarain who has inspired my editorial designs. I often decide what I am going to do and then watching these Artists chucks everything out the water!

I’m absolutely loving the make-up part of the course; you can be so creative and really go to town. I’ve been particularly proud of my red carpet and editorial make-up – we have to take photos of our work under a magnifying lamp for our portfolio.

My tutors are really good and, as a mature student, I get on really well with everyone in my class; I’ve got a daughter in her twenties so I’m young at heart! It’s been great to take advantage of various trips outside of College to the Professional Beauty Show in London and to IMAX to focus on theatrical make-up.
