Fitness Instructing (Gym Based) (QCF) Level 2 Certificate (YMCA Awards)This course will lead you to a recognised YMCA awards qualification and will prepare you with the skills and knowledge that you will need to work as a Fitness Instructor (Gym Based) in a wide range of establishments.
Course information
You do not need any qualifications however you should have experience in the use of gym based equipment (Cardiovascular & Resistance).
During the course you will cover topics including:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Principles of Exercise
- Health & Safety
- Barriers to Participation
- Resistance Training and Cardiovascular machines
YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing.
2 x multiple choice exams, 2 x worksheets, 1 x portfolio, 2 x practical assessments.
Recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals, on successful completion you will be qualified as a Gym Instructor, and past students have gained work on cruise ships, in gyms, as personal trainers, managing fitness centres and training in specific sports.
Alternatively you can progress on to one of our Level 3 Fitness qualifications.
We regard appearance, conduct and attitude as an essential and on-going part of the course. You will be required to wear appropriate clothing and follow professional codes of appearance and conduct at all times. You will need to attend College one evening a week. You will also be expected to research and practise skills covered in lectures during your own time.

Funding Information
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
