Aran
Engineering initially appealed to me because it offers a good balance of practical and theory work. I started on the Level 2 course after my GCSEs and am now studying on the Level 3 programme, which is a step up in terms of workload.
I really enjoy the product design aspect of the course. In one of our units we have to design and build a robot from VEX kits. We are given a specification to follow but the design is up to us. Next year we can decide what aspect of engineering we want to focus on. I’m going to choose mechanical.
I much prefer College to school because you are treated as an adult and there is more space and freedom to move around. The tutors are good and the facilities in the robotics lab are fantastic.
Once I finish College I’m hoping to go to De Montfort University in Leicester to study Mechanical Engineering or Product Design and then get into industry in one of these areas.
