This course will allow you to develop a range of specialist technical skills, enabling you to meet the demands of employers in the computing sector and to adapt to a constantly changing world. Entry requirements

An Access to Higher Education Diploma in a Computing or related subject We also welcome applications from mature students who will be considered on relevant work experience rather than qualifications.

Course content

During this course you will have the opportunity to study a range of options, including programming; networking; professional practice; database design & development; security; managing a successful computing project; systems development life cycle; web development.

Assessment methods

Assessment is made through a variety of coursework assignments including case studies providing solutions to realistic computing problems, practical assessments and computer-based tests. There are no formal examinations associated with this course. Teaching methods include lectures, practical sessions, group work, tutorials and workshops. In addition, substantial learning resources and support material are available online for home study.

Further study and career options

You will be able to progress onto a Degree in Computing or a related field. Network Engineer, Systems Architect, Data Analyst, IT Security Analyst, Web Developer are all possible examples of a wide range of job titles associated with the qualification

Additional information

Significant additional study will be required outside of the program to be successful. If working then the support of your employer would be a significant benefit to successful completion.

There may be the opportunity to study for industry specific qualifications as part of the course.
