Beauty Therapy (Intensive) City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma

This professional course equips you with the skills you need to carry out a range of beauty therapy treatments to a nationally recognised standard. The course is intensive and fast paced and your commitment and attendance need to be of the highest order.

COURSE INFORMATION

Entry requirements

This course is designed for 19+ mature students wishing to begin a career in Beauty Therapy. You will need 3 GCSEs at Grade A*-D (one to be in English) or an NVQ Level 1 qualification, other qualifications and experiences will also be taken into consideration. A good understanding of written and spoken English is essential. You will attend an interview session where information will be given regarding the course content and uniform & kit requirements. You will also undertake a skills assessment in English to determine if you need any further support to be successful on your course.

Course content

The course will focus on the practical and theoretical elements of beauty therapy. There will be lessons dedicated to the practical treatments and classroom based activities. You will be set homework assignments as well as dedicate time for practising your new skills as the course is demanding and intense.

During the course you will cover topics including:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Working in beauty related industries
  • Health and safety
  • Client care and communication
  • Promote products and services to clients
  • Salon reception duties
  • Provide facial skincare
  • Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
  • Remove hair using waxing techniques
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments.
Assessment methods

You will be assessed by your tutors as you carry out treatments on clients on a continual basis in the Colleges salons. It must be stressed that full commitment will be essential for your success, and you will be required to pass online end of unit assessment tests set by the awarding body.

Further study and career options

You can complete your training with Level 3 Beauty Therapy as a full time student or on a part time course. This will increase your employment options as you become a fully qualified therapist. Alternatively, you can add on other treatment options with part time study.

Additional information

You will be required to buy a kit for home study and a professional uniform in order to achieve this course.

Funding Information

The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable.
