Live links to health careers

Three students from The Bedford Sixth Form have completed their first year of a Health and Care Academy course linked to Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

During lockdowns, the course was run online giving students a virtual insight into departments across a range of careers in the health service. Now face-to-face work experience has been piloted.

An insight into Health

Presenting certificates to the students was Stacy Sherwood, Practice Educator with the Trust. Joining her was Becky Sandhu, Health and Social Care teacher at The Bedford Sixth Form in Bromham Road, Bedford.

In addition Elise was asked to pin the name badge on the new academy mascot which she named Barnaby the Bear. Barnaby will be taken out and about to schools and colleges promoting the academy and careers in the health service. The academy was piloted originally with the support of Becky at The Bedford Sixth Form and is now open to a wider range of young people.
